‘3 red light flashing’

Basically the ‘3 red light flashing’ problem represents any sort of ‘general hardware failure’ in Xbox 360. The red colored LEDs provided around the power switch start flashing in particular manner, which shows that some internal error has occured. The LEDs are arranged in the circular manner and hence it is known as “Ring of Light”. When the internal hardware error occurs these lights start flashing. This is commonly known as the “Red Ring of Death” or “RROD”.

Flashing of three red lights is different than flashing of all four lights. If four red lights are flashing, then this shows that the AV cable is not appropriately inserted into the Xbox 360 console.
